• Contrary to popular beliefs, Macs are not immune to malware and viruses. The truth of the matter is that hackers have historically ignored Macs in favor of the more lucrative PC market. However, as Mac market share has increased, so has the interest of hackers. Malwarebytes recently reported that Mac malware is the highest it has ever been in 2017. Avast has also reported that they blocked more than 250 million malware threats aimed at their Mac customers. So, Mac attacks are definitely on the rise. The threats are similar to those of the PC world and include adware, potentially unwanted programs (PUPS), and ransomware to name a few. It would seem its time to bite the bullet and install an anti-virus program on your Mac.
